The MACC will be collecting donations for the Maui Food Bank during this event. We ask that our patrons bring needed items for those impacted by the wildfires. Donation bins will be located near the MACC's main entry gates.

Alexander Academy Performing Company is thrilled to present the holiday tradition, The Nutcracker. This full-length ballet features the beloved music by Peter Ilych Tchaikovsky, with artistic directors Absalon Figueroa and Amelia Nelson. Costumes by Jennifer Oberg and her Sewing Hui and Alexander Academy.

This classic ballet tells the magical tale of young Clara who befriends a Nutcracker who comes to life on Christmas Eve and wages a battle against the evil Mouse King. The Nutcracker turns into a Prince and takes Clara on an enchanted journey to the Land of Snow, where they are welcomed by dancing snowflakes in a forest wonderland and then travel to the Land of Sweets where they are greeted by the Sugar Plum Fairy. The Prince delights in sharing the tale of the daring battle with the army of rats and all are rewarded with a beautiful celebration of dances. 

This year’s cast features Anuhea Kelly and Kewen Imlay as the Sugarplum Fairy; Aleeya Cantor-Charles as Snow Queen, Genevieve Kermode as Dew Drop, Macie Madaus as the Rat King, and Eliana Campos as Clara.  Don’t miss our youngest dancers ages 3-6 who steal the show as angels and mice.

We are “...excited and inspired to present our fourth annual production of The Nutcracker!” says co-artistic director Absalon Figueroa.  “It has been exciting to reimagine our ballet to support the pre-professional level of our dancers and challenge them as artists.” Executive Director Danelle Watson Keenan reflects, “We are thrilled to be presenting at the MACC again. There is an elegance added being in this large theater.   Our dancers are looking forward to sharing their hard work and embracing in the moments onstage. This production brings me holiday cheer.”
